In each session, we'll go through activities to personalize a few in-depth business principles for YOUR business. The second day of classes (Finance 201) is all about diving deeper. We'll go over strategies for how to organize your products, pricing, and creating systems to help you come tax time.
An overview of each Study Hour is detailed below. Location is TBD, but will be e-mailed to those who have registered and will be posted soon.
Wednesday May 9th:
BOOK MORE IDEAL CLIENTS; 10AM - 12PM
We're here to help you work smarter, not harder. This Study Hour is all about identifying your target market. After all, this is the first (and most important) step to any successful marketing strategy. We will also go over market segmentation and messaging to help you create a solid marketing foundation for your business. By the end of the two hours you will have pin-pointed your own business' differentiation and have the tools to start your upcoming marketing campaign on the right foot.
MAKE YOUR CASH FLOW; 2-4PM
Ya okay we understand that the perception is that financial math is overwhelming, and finance/accounting is boring. We're here to help all that pesky accounting make a little more sense. Don't worry, we've purposely scheduled this in the afternoon, so it's perfectly acceptable to have a beer while you take it all in. In this workshop, we will go over core business finance principles (i.e. the difference between revenue, margin, & profit) that are true for EVERY business, AND you'll have the opportunity to tailor them to your business.
Thursday May 10th:
* if you attend both courses on 4/27, lunch will be provided
** while it's not required, it is recommended that the Make You Cash Flow Study Hour is first attended before attending Study Hours 2.0. We will be discussion margin and expenses in depth, and a basic understanding of each is needed.
SERVICE vs. PRODUCT pricing; 9AM - 12PM
How do you strategically set your pricing for those wedding packages? How do you make sure you're charging accurately for that big, fancy wedding album? What about discounts? That's sooo much info. How do you keep track of it all? We're going to answer all of these questions, AND you'll be given a spreadsheet to help you keep track of all of your product offerings, product pricing, and discounts. No longer will you wonder if you can afford to give a 20% discount off that canvas.
TAXES made EASY (well, easier); 1PM - 4PM
We get it. Taxes are complicated. Creating systems will help you organize your monthly expenses. In this course, we're going to systematize and organize those monthly statements into an annual P&L (profit and loss) statement. This will not only help you to see your annual combined income and spending, it will make it easier for your CPA, which will in turn make it MUCH cheaper for you. Since 2017 taxes are completed by this time, we will go through the first 3 months of 2018. You will be given an excel spreadsheet to use in perpetuity for your own business.
To register, you will be prompted to fill-out a short form.
